DOCTORAL PROGRAM PREREQUISITES:

  • Master's degree in education

  • Three years teaching experience

  • Desire to be a decision maker

  • Professional commitment to education and K-12 students

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, professional personality

  • Willingness to accept and adapt to change

  • Academic integrity

  • Currently working in one of the target areas of Florida: Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami

DOCTORAL PROGRAM BENEFITS:

  • Fully paid tuition and fees for an Education Doctorate degree with specialization in Special Education Administration

  • Fully paid summer leadership seminars at Harvard University

  • Flexibility to complete degree while meeting work and family commitments

  • Stipend for full participation

  • Professional mentoring at home school site

  • Opportunity for professional advancement upon completion of degree

  • Provide better service for children and youths with disabilities

  • Fully paid travel to the Council for Exceptional Children annual convention                                                                   

DOCTORAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 93 student credit hours

  • Transfer 30 credits from your master's program

  • Remaining 63 credit hours can be distributed part-time over four years including:
    42 hours of course study and practicum
    21 hours of dissertation upon completion of qualifying exams

  • Complete 6 to 9 hours per semester

  • Engage in action research at home site for at least 9 credit hours

  • Attend two, two-week summer institutes at Harvard University
